Hi Friends! I'm so thrilled to be part of the Heffy Doodle blog hop to celebrate their newest release! If you're just now joining the hop, feel free to start at the beginning with Heffy Doodle, or you may have come directly from the blog of Cassie Tezak.
I kinda knew that Lesley Oman, owner of Heffy Doodle, was a fun and energetic person from being on the Chibitronics team together. But, I was in for a real treat when I met her in person for the first time at Creativation a couple weeks ago ... what a HOOT this girl is! Super funny, lovable, and honestly just someone you want to hang out with. I'm so happy she's had such great success starting her dream company, and I can't wait to see where it will go.
I got to play with the new Eggcellent News set, which is full of cute, punny sayings (many of which are baby/pregnancy related.) For my card, I stamped the sentiment directly on canvas to give it more of a homespun feel.
The baby chick, who is in the process of hatching from his egg, is sitting in the nest under the watchful eye of his parents. I used an exacto knife to cut a slit along the line of the nest so I could slip the egg inside the nest.
To finish the card off I sewed around the edges and attached it to the light blue base, keeping the long tails of thread at the end. This card is going to my cousin, who already knows she's expecting a baby boy, so I was able to go with a gender-specific background color. Can't wait to see her open it at the baby shower next month!
Now for some info on prizes! A random winner will be selected for a £25 gift certificate + free shipping to the Heffy Doodle store. To be eligible, leave comments across the entire blog hop by
11:59 PM PST on 2/15/2018. Winners will be announced on the Heffy Doodle Blog.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the effect of using fabric on your card... so textural! :)
ReplyDeleteKelly, wow what a lot of techniques I have learnt from you in just one project. Initially stamping on fabric is something I have not done in the past but I think it gives the whole project a farm/barn feeling. I have in projects of my own cut lines as you have done with the nest in order to slot the chick pipping its way out of its egg. But I have never sewn my layer to my card base before. Did you use a special type of sewing machine or was it on a particular setting in order to sew through the card? Thank you Kelly, I love your card design using the Heffy Doodle products. :O)
ReplyDeleteFabulous card!! Never thought of putting fabric on my cards.
