Catherine Pooler Storybook Collection + New Ink Colors Blog Hop

Hi Folks, welcome to the Catherine Pooler Storybook Collection Blog Hop! You may have come from Daniel's blog, but if not please feel free to start at the beginning with none other than Catherine Pooler's blog

To make things a little more flexible, and to make sure you get exactly what you're looking for, the collection of products in the Storybook Collection is divided into three different bundles for purchase:

And let's not forget one of the most exciting things ... NEW Ink Colors!! Four new colors have been added to the robust palette of existing colors.

The set of cards I'm sharing today is from the Fluttering Friends stamp and die set from the Enchanted Forest Bundle, with adorable bird illustrations that are so flexible for different coloring styles. For these cards I've only used watercolors. Let's take a closer look!

This card uses all four of the new Ink Colors! The background of the card, and the chartreuse elements in the bird's feathers are from my new favorite color, Lemongrass. The red in the cardinal is watercolored from the inside of the Rouge ink pad cover, the purple on the tail and wing is from Queen for a Day, and the leaves are watercolored in Sage with Lemongrass highlights. Wonderful colors that work so well together!

This card features a wonderfully-sized text background from the rubber stamp F as in .... Love that you can stamp this in a light color that doesn't detract too much, and results in a nicely covered background, with a thin white margin. Perfect for so many different styles.

The leaves and acorns are fun to layer up and create a place for these birds to rest awhile.

This next card uses a similar concept, only instead of the oak leaves, I've layered the smaller-leaved foliage and the tiny berries underneath the sentiment. The background is smooshed with Seafoam Ink.

This bird looks similar to a gold finch, so that's how I colored him. I love the extra little bits included, like the berries and acorns.

My third card is stamped with the same F as in ... background stamp and shaded. Then I cut the tiny leaved die cut element in half and used that as tree cover on top of the panel.

The bird is carrying two of the sentiments in her beak.

And here they are all together ... I really had fun making these!

In case you missed it, here are the two cards from yesterday's IG hop.

And finally, here's my whole collection, made from just the Fluttering Friends and the F as in ... set!

Essentials By Ellen New Release - Mondo Wildflowers

Hi Folks! You saw the adorable critters in the Essentials by Ellen Backyard Party set from yesterday, now let's take a closer look at the gorgeous wildflowers in Mondo Wildflower that are yours to stamp and brighten someone's day!

If one bouquet of wildflowers makes you happy, than what happens when you put FOUR bouquets on a card?! Why not? I love that Brandi Kincaid drew this bouquet so there's no real top or bottom to it. This allows you to rotate the bouquet to make it look like a completely different group of flowers each time. For this card all I did was stamp the bouquet once in each corner, rotating the image each time. So easy to layout a card full of flowers this way!

The Altenew Watercolors are gorgeous, as always, and make me happy. For each of the four bouquets I used the same colors to keep things simple. Otherwise I end up spending too much time picking colors. Once all the flowers were colored I used a light blue wash to color the negative space. I like not having any white on the panel for a change.

For the sentiment I used "you" from Letterboard Script 2 in gold, and then embossed the rest of the sentiment on black cardstock strips.

For this next card I only featured one bouquet, and instead of stamping it in black ink, I embossed it in white. Completely different look! One nice thing about embossing when you're watercoloring, it sure makes it easier to stay inside the lines. Especially for small areas.

Kind of like bowling with bumpers in the gutters.

I folded a piece of paper in a cone to "hold" the bouquet, and then tied it closed with some ribbon. The background of the card is sponged, ink spattered, and stenciled in Catherine Pooler's Aquatini ink. The stencil is one I made from the Skinny Stripes die by Julie Ebersole.

The sentiment is from this set. I'm going to use this as a graduation card and think the sentiment is perfect for that (without even saying "happy graduation").

You really can't go wrong with this set ... no matter how you use it you've got the makings of a gorgeous card.

Don't forget, these sets are NOW AVAILABLE at Ellen Hutson.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
