Altenew November 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello Folks! I'm so honored to help celebrate Altenew's November Stamp/Die/Stencil Release by joining in an inspirational blog hop! You may come from Nathalie DeSousa's blog but if not feel free to start at the beginning with the Altenew Card Blog.

I'm sure we'd all agree there are a lot of good floral sets coming out to the market. This one, called Breezy Bouquet, is great because not only does it have a great floral image, but it also comes with a vase and a wrap to hold the flowers, stems, a tag, and some wonderfully scripty sentiments.

The main floral image is watercolored, gold is spattered on the card base (with a mask over the flowers so they don't get any of the gold spatters), and an outline is drawn around the panel. Going along the bottom is a strip of the new Gradient Lines Washi Tape.

But I just couldn't leave it alone. Does that ever happen to you? So I took the washi tape off, adhered one of the new die cut sentiments from Handwritten Hello, and extended the outlines around the card panel.

Did you notice the cute little tag that's tied around the vase? Not only is the tag darling, but the sentiment fits perfectly inside!

The next card is made from the cutest little set! It's called Mini Moon, and it's ONLY $4.99! The coordinating die is just $2.99, but you could definitely just cut around the moon with your scissors too.

I smooshed some ink in the middle of the panel, stamped it repeatedly with the "moon" sentiment, and then popped up the moon die cut. The tiny sentiments which finish the phrase surround it nicely.

Embossing the moon details in shiny silver make it seem even more moon-like. Then the card base is stamped with my recently favorite background stamp, faceted stars.

The last set I'm featuring today is the Plentiful Pine Stamp Set and Plentiful Pine Die Set. It's just like the famous Altenew Build-a-Flower sets, except instead of building a flower, you get to build a pine tree! Just a fabulous idea for a set.

No need to always reach for the green inks with evergreens ... purple, yellow and fuchsia work well for a modern Christmas card!

After the last card came together, I had a bunch of fuchsia trees left over, so I quickly made another card featuring this beauty.

The background is from the Linear Stencil ... love how it really helps direct your attention towards the center, right where the tree is. This sentiment is one of the many useful sentiments to come with the set. Underneath the sentiment I've blended some black ink through the Feeling Dotty Stencil.

I had to try a traditionally colored set of trees too! This trio of pines is nestled close together in the snow drifts. The sun has set awhile ago, and it's starting to really dark out, hence the purple, twilight sky.

These two sentiments are also included in the set. I'm always a sucker for script + type. Lots to chose from here, and not all are holiday-specific!

25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi Folks! I'm a girl who loves traditions, and one of the fun traditions in card-making land is my long-time friend Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags. For 25 days in November a different company is featured, and several tags are made featuring that company's products. There are also tons of prizes, and lots of ways for everyone to participate by linking up their own tags inspired by one of the posts. It's always so fun to see what everyone comes up with, and undoubtedly gets many people into the spirit of the season.

My tag features one of the new Christmas sets from Essentials by Ellen, Dinomite Christmas, which is so useful during the other 11 months of the year as well (hello little boy's birthdays!).

The watercolored t-rex is just getting ready to decorate his Christmas tree out in the forest. Like us, he loves to sing his favorite Christmas carols while decorating ... can you hear him ... "Fa Ra Ra Ra Rawr"!!! : )

To go with traditional Christmas colors, I made the t-rex green, and added a string of Christmas lights (love that these have corresponding die-cuts because there is no way I'd be able to cut all those little light bulbs out!)

The tags are cut with the Shipping Tags die, which I love because it makes FOUR tags at once. Each tag I make always uses two tags so the bottom one can be a solid color or pattern. The bottom tag for this set is stamped with the Rustic Woodgrain background stamp.

Catherine Pooler Retro Winter Release!

Hi Folks! I'm so pleased to share some projects from Catherine Pooler's new Retro Winter collection! Using the NEW INKS!! Yay, there are four new ink colors that are must-haves in your CP ink collection!

Here's a peek at the four new ink colors, as well as one of the new sets in the collection ... the Happy Buddies stamp set. It has adorable critters who are just waiting to give you a hug. Here's the teddy bear. Love that the "happy" banner included in this set fits perfectly between his hands.

I tried to make the watercolor splotchy on Mr. Bear for a feeling of fur. Also notice the pattern on the two opposite panels? In addition to the new stamps, dies, and inks, there are also new patterned papers!

You can also always make your own patterned paper with the stamps. In this last panel I just stamped the "birthday" sentiment a few times and then added the die cut presents.

So, the bear is super cute, but isn't this guy the CUTEST?! Maybe it's the die cut antlers, or the little fur markings, but I'm so in love with him.

Here he's been made into a pop-up card, and since he has his own stand, he's perfect for hanging out on the top of a present.

You can see how he's adhered between the two ends of the strip of patterned paper, and then stuck through a slot in the middle of the patterned paper.

This allows the tag to be collapsed flat for mailing or storage,

and he can still pop back up into action. I thought he was cute enough to skip the card altogether, and stand on his own as a unique present tag. 

Finally, the last critter is an adorable penguin. In this case, it's a flock (is that the right word?!) of penguins!

I cut several wavy pieces of paper and stacked them together to make a snowy landscape, and practically, a place for the flock (?!) of penguins to all hang out.

One of the penguins is bringing a present to the big party (with some selective cutting I separated one present from the larger group of presents) and two other penguins are helping to hold the greeting. This could easily be a winter birthday card instead of a holiday card. The sky is blended using two of the new ink colors (which I LOVE).

So much to take in here, between the stamps, dies, patterned paper, and NEW INKS! I think my favorite of the four is Sangria because it fills a plum-colored hole nicely, and will be used often with my layered flower stamping.

Thanks so much for stopping by ... after the Chicago snowstorm on Halloween, I definitely feel like winter is coming sooner this year (and not just in my craft room)!
