Winnie and Walter Scenery: Big Bang Confetti

Here it goes, our first post for winnie & walter stamps!

Big Bang Confetti (seriously, how can you not love this set already after reading the title?!) is packed with 4 different backgrounds. This card uses the scattered dots, which should really be a staple in anyone's collection if you don't have some already. It took no time at all to stamp the random dots in four shades of blue for an ombre background. The "LOVE YOU" sentiment is from another set you'll see later this week. Since the background is pretty basic, I trimmed it on an angle, as has been made so popular by Maile Belles.

Another background in the set is a grouping of stars. Again, a staple, go-to, background. This one is generationally stamped in the lightest gray I have. Each background also has 4-5 single images that you can use to expand upon the background. For the stars, I'm using the medium and small star to make up my own constellation in red. I sketched the "love" in pencil, stamped random stars along the pencil lines, and then joined everything with a red marker. The rest of the sentiment I wrote below the constellation. The inside of the card is actually textured wall paper rescued from a garage sale.

side note: has it ever bothered anyone that these detailed constellations are derived from a dozen scattered stars, like The Scorpion here? Maybe the tail is a little distinctive, but c'mon, the rest of the body and claws I really don't see. Seems like you could turn them into anything. Maybe I'm just too literal.

There are only so many "love" cards I have a use for (only married to one guy here!) so this is an engagement card for our beautiful cousin who just got engaged on New Year's Eve in San Francisco. Congrats Abby and Chris!! Their love really is written in the stars. I'm also entering this one in the new Moxie Fab World Trendy Star Power Challenge. So happy to see those challenges are back!

The last card uses the single dot stamps clustered together so I could get dense coverage through the stencil without having to stamp the background a million times. So convenient! I die cut the 8 and cut a circle from copy paper for my stencils. It was fun to use a bunch of different greens/blues and reds/oranges. Let's hope this 8 year-old really is not color blind!!

Here's the first version of this card. As you can see, I was indeed having fun stamping the different colors. So much fun that I wasn't really paying attention to what was happening. When I took the stencil off and saw the mass of dark green blotches I sighed and reached for another piece of cardstock. Ah well!

Be sure to check out the other amazing projects from these talented ladies:

Meet you back here tomorrow (and the next two days) for the reveal of the next set. Don't forget to comment-to-win a guest designer spot along with the entire second release by January 14th. Guest designing not your thing? Then comment-to-win here for the the entire first release. Think you know your fellow stampers? There's also a guessing contest for who the Mystery Guest Stars are. Just all sorts of ways to win here.

Thanks for looking!

  9. I love love love your cards and your post! I'm in love with that card angle trend by Maile also, and love how you used an ombre effect with the stamps. The color blind card is so cute too. I may need some tips on how you did the stencil - I'm not always lucky when using them. I'm a huge fan of the constellation card and so glad that you put it in the challenge! I hope you win because it is fantastic!!!

  10. I was thinking of getting some mists but I think that background stamp would work much better - a little more control. I love it and the LOVE card is genius. Even the card you think didn't came out right looks good to me. I think W & W are going to love having you demonstrate their stamps.

  11. BRILLIANT to make those eye-test cards! I predict multiple casings of this technique. Looking forward to seeing more of this new company (and its logo inspired my card next Wednesday!) I am also loving that your cards are patterned on the INSIDE. What a great way to use up some DP! Well done - W&W definitely chose well when they got you!

  13. So very fabulous. I love all your projects today. I think my favorite is the last card--both versions. It reminds me of some sort of optical illusion--like to see the 8 you need to peer through a secret window or something. You are rocking these new stamps.

  15. Great cards. Agreed on the "poetic license" on the constellations... There are different designs and labels juxtaposed on the stars.

.......... I am not too sure if you enter many of the challenges..I think your first card is perfect for both the current CASE Study (Design of softly colored items) and the Runway Inspired Challenge (Colors blue and hot pink) and CASology (Bubbly!)...
