CFC#98 - All that Glitters

The CASual Fridays Challenge this week is to use glitter somewhere in your project. A challenge that is probably not too difficult for a lot of people : ) I was going to use just a bit of glitter, but then I saw a ginormous bottle of glitter on sale at Michael's this weekend and was inspired to "go big or go home."

Yep, that's a whole two coats of extra-fine glitter on the entire base of the card. Spray adhesive worked well to adhere the glitter evenly. Then a coat of Acrylic Sealer to hold the glitter on the card.

I've been frustrated in the past using the Memory Box Modern Landscape die. The slope of the hills make it quite difficult to orient and keep the walls of the house plumb. So I drew lines on the back to help me line it up. Even with these lines, I think the house is still leaning to the right a bit. Argh.

The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!s Word Play set. I don't love that their stamps aren't see-through, but will admit that it's easier than I thought to line up the image since the margins are very thin. I'll use this for a high school graduation card this summer (college would work well too).

Here's the ginormous bottle of glitter, on sale for only $2! I wonder how old I'll be when I use the last flakes : )

Hope to see you in the gallery! There's a $25 gift card to Simon Says Stamp for the winner this week. Go check out all the Design Team cards too ... this has to be one of my favorite collections of cards so far!

Thanks for looking!

  3. Wow does that sparkle or what!! Love the design as a graduation card:0)
I know what you mean about the die... the flow of the hills really tricks my eyes too... I think I made a template of the curve so I would get it right or something like that... haven't used it in a while!

  14. LOVE the glittery goodness--such a yummy color, too. Now you have me thinking about cards that I made with the ML die and all my houses must be leaning to the right as well!

  15. This was my favourite sample for the challenge. Seriously. I went past it in the group post looking for your entry, thinking this wasn't a 'Kelly' card. But now I read how it was made and I know it totally is!!! *Love* this design, it is so so classy and elegant. I think the house turned out fine the way it is, but I know it will bug you, and if I had made it myself it would bug me too, lol! Great idea and tip about the acrylic sealer BTW, I am totally going to have to get some of that. And also I now want that enormous bottle of glitter!!

  17. What a great idea--to glitter up the entire card face. That is so striking and beautiful. I love that die, too. This is a fun way to use that die, and a super creative graduation card.
