Hello and welcome to the debut of another amazing layering flower stamp and coordinating die set from Altenew ... the Camellia Japonica!! You may have come from the talented Mindy Eggen but if not feel free to start at the beginning with the Altenew Card Blog.
I really thought the Sunflower Daisy set from the June release was one of the most detailed layered floral sets that I've seen, but now we have this set!
Before I share the cards I made with this beauty, I'd like to share one big tip:
Stamp in reverse order.
I've had a lot of success lining up the layers in these sets by stamping the last, darkest layer first. Once that small, dark layer is on the cardstock, it's a lot easier to see when you layer the next-to-last stamp on top. It's been so easy, in fact, that I've stopped using the MISTI when stamping these layers.
Have you tried this already (maybe this is old news?!?) or are you anxious to try it out?
Before you head to your stamping table to test this out, here's a look at the cards I created:
Love, love, love! Look at al those layers!! And they all lined up well. I just can't get over how realistic they look!
This die cut floral is layered on top of one of the Nesting Layers dies from the June release. I curved the "you are just" sentiment to follow the curve of the die. Under this die is stamped the triangle pattern from Pattern Power, also from the recent June release.
The background is blended ink through the Molded Lines Stencil.
For
the sentiment on this card, I didn't want to cover up too much of the
florals, so I stamped the first part on a thin piece of white cardstock (that I made wavy with my fingers),
and the remainder on a piece of vellum that I wrapped around the card.I thought the embossed gold went well with the yellows and oranges throughout the card.
Whether they are orange, green or purple, this newest member of the Build-A-Flower family puts a huge smile on my face every time I finish stamping one. I smile because it's so pretty, and because it's so darn easy. A winning combination for sure!
If you're not sure you have enough shades of each ink color for the Build a Flower set, you can also purchase the set with coordinating ink cubes at a 5% discount.
Subscription Plan:
There is also a monthly subscription plan for the Build-A-Flower sets! When signed up, you are guaranteed a spot in the montly Build-A-Flower releases (which often sell out) and will receive the stamp and coordinating die at a special discounted price ($35.00 -> $29.99). See Altenew site for further details.
Prizes:
To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to 6 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or the Altenew Scrapbook Blog for a chance to win.
