It's my day on the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog, and this time I'm focusing on the sentiments and letting the DP do much of the remaining work.
This paper is one I hoarded before I was really into card making, and probably embarrassed myself over. It's from our cousin's wedding shower ... and one of the aunts (who is well-known for her ah-mazing presents that take 1/2 hour to open because there are so many) wrapped a present in this hand-printed paper. I couldn't stand to see this beauty lying on the ground, all torn and crumpled. So I dashed into the middle of the circle of guests and grabbed it all. Each and every piece. It was so darn worth it. You should feel how thick it is, with a chalky coating. Mmmmm ...
Since I slacked on the on the pattern part of the card, I did some extra work on the sentiment. It's made from three different sets and masked to break the words up. Some double stamping in a different color and the arrow, helps break it up a little.
Rad, Only You, Exclamations
Paper on this one is from a Dear Lizzy 6x6 pad, and the roses are just cut out. Layer it with the glitter jacks and some rhinestones and it's an embellishment.
The sentiment is from two different sets, they coordinate so well. Love the different fonts together.
Frankly, Exclamations
Thanks so much for looking!

Gorgeous card Kelly, get the wrapping paper from wherever you can find it! LOL Cathy x
ReplyDeleteThat's called upcycling. lol I love the way you double stamped to give a highlight.
ReplyDeleteThat is some stunning wrapping paper, Kelly ... love how you did the sentiment! Super colour combo on your second card ... so gentel and soft! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteFunny story Kelly! I would have saved that beautiful wrapping paper from being thrown out too. Awesome sentiment! I love the embossed sentiment on the second card too!
ReplyDeleteOk, where to start? First, both cards are gorgeous. Second, I would have totally done the same to save that beautiful paper from it's cruel recycling bin fate. You know super heros don't have a bit of shame because it's so unpractical, right? And finally, I love how you used the glittery asterisks as leaves for the roses!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous, Kelly! And congrats on your Holiday Home Décor win! Simply amazing!
ReplyDeletegreat upcycling Kelly and two wonderful cards ...again!!! ;o)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week-end, I'm so excited it's Renegade Craft Fest Yeah!!!!!

Oh, I love to rescue wrapping paper, too--but I have never made anything this lovely out of it. Super cards today.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards! That wrapping paper is fantastic! You're going to have to send that to your aunt! And I love the second, it's so pretty, perfect patterns and love the embossing.
ReplyDeleteHa! I love how frugal u are...gotta love free pattern paper!
ReplyDeleteYeah, my kids always look at me and ask "should we save the paper?" Fun sentiment treatment.

ReplyDeleteLove both of them Kelly, you are so creative my friend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Kelly! I've been known to save some wrapping paper myself and my mother-in-law has every bow the family has ever purchased. EVERY BOW :)
ReplyDeleteAmazingly beautiful cards, Kelly. And I have to admit to doing the same thing with wrapping paper...and ribbons...and even the tissue paper! Love how you've saved a small piece of the earth and increased its beauty all at the same time! Bev
