I don't do floral cards too well, so I picked up on the graphic horizontal folds in the inspiration photo for this month's Papertrey blog hop.
Horrors of all horrors, my Cuttlebug broke last night. I was embossing and heard an awful popping noise. Closed my eyes. When I opened them I saw the case had come loose. Totally broken. Sooo ... I went to bed. This morning I tried rubbing the paper with a bone folder over the impression plate and it worked, a little. Good enough until I can get a new one at least. Now I'm old school.
The Roman shades are made with the ScorePal. I used the green strips (the ones with the stripe embossing that broke my Cuttlebug!) to hold the blinds up, just like they would in real life. Cut out shapes for the window sill, and added a pull with some wire and a bead.
OK, now I'm off to check out the fabulous cards in the hop ...
Thanks for looking!
Supplies used:
Stamps: PTI Think Big Favorites
Impression Plates: PTI stripes, linen, woodgrain
Other: wire, pearl bead
This is such a fun card! I love your creativity!!!

ReplyDeleteLove the blinds, fantastic Kelly!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea--unique! Not easy to do a CAS take on the challenge but you did it! Sorry about the Cuttlebug though--I'm dreading hearing that popping sound--it'll probably happen sometime...
ReplyDeleteHow adorable! Love the pull with the bead and wire:)
ReplyDeleteAnd now let's take a moment to say goodbye to your Cuttlebug;) lol! Have you tried a Big Shot? Not that I don't love my Cuttlebug, but I get much more consistent results with the Big Shot.
Actually, I hadn't considered the Big Shot since I've really enjoyed my Cuttlebug. I'm looking into it now. Thanks so much for the recommendation, JJ!

ReplyDeleteSuch a great take on the challenge. I love your Roman Shades. Too bad your Cuttlebug broke. I love mine to death, and would be very sad to replace him.
ReplyDeleteWow! You really thought outside the box with this one! I love how you made the ruffles into a window shade, keeping the green trim from the pillow! It would be the perfect window behind the chair of pillows! :) I'm so sorry to hear about your Cuttlebug! That is one of my biggest crafting fears! I will admit, I've been wanting to upgrade to a Vagabond or maybe a Bigshot (but mostly the Vagabond), and maybe breaking the Cuttlebug would push me into doing it, but I'd still be devestated in the mean time!
ReplyDeleteI know, I was devastated, but am now thinking it may be fun to try something new. I'll have to look into the Vagabond too. The Big Shot sounded really nice (I did sometimes have issues with the narrow slot of the Cuttlebug). Thanks for your suggestion!
