Evelin T Designs First Release Blog Hop!

Hi Folks! I couldn't be more excited to share with you a brand new release from a brand new company ... Evelin T Designs! Many of you may be familiar with Evelin's signature whimsical and fun style from the illustrations she designed with Winnie & Walter. They are truly some of my most favorite and most used sets.

Now, Evelin is striking out on her own, illustrating the most adorable stamp sets for Evelin T. Designs. She is starting out with a bang, and releasing six new stamp sets TODAY. You should have come from one of my favorite crafters, Amy Tsuruta! If not, feel free to start at the beginning with Evelin T Designs.

Let's get started, as I've got 5-6 cards to share with you!

Could they be ANY CUTER?! Seriously. There are many Coffee Loving Critters in this set which can be grouped together to form a small coffee loving gang, like this, or used individually with one of the fun sentiments included.

How can you resist that plump kitty balancing a cup on his round belly? Or the bunny walking towards you with a cup of something warm? And if by some miracle you can, there are a few critters in this set who are holding sweets instead of cups. Love them all!

Another new set is Alpha Blocks, which has many duplicate letters so you can build a few entire words on your stamping block (like my friend's name "Natasha" with 3 A's). After lining up the letters to form her name, I stamped it repeatedly in a diagonal, leaving space in between for me to draw a tiny heart. You can color the inside of the letters with a single color like I did here, or do an ombre coloring where one color fades to the next.

While I had Natasha's name already laid out on the stamping block, I stamped it again on the envelope, just because I could.

In addition to critters who love coffee, there is also a set of critters who love to read, like this guy who's a little exhausted from climbing the rainbow pile of books.

But he made it to the top! The books are selectively stamped, and stamped on top of each other, to make several different sizes of piles. This would also be really cute for a graduation card if you colored the covers with the colors of the new graduate's next school.

Evergreen Foliage has several wonderful sentiments, along with a few pieces of greenery. I've used the greens here to frame a series of sentiments, but you can also group them together to be the star of the show.

Evelin really got it right with the mix of scripted sentiments, sans serif type, and the fillable alphas. Love how they all look together.

Finally, there's the most adorable illustration of kitties sneaking around in the forest called Sneaky Kitties.

Once you have the scene colored you can either trim the sides a bit and mount it on a vertical card. Or, you can leave it as-is and mount it on a horizontal card, like this:

It's the perfect size to span your entire landscape card!

I get a smile on my face every time I see them peeking out from behind the grasses! These kinds of images lend themselves to "from all of us" cards when you're sending greetings on behalf of a group of people.

New Essentials by Ellen - Backyard Party

Hi Folks! Have you seen the sneaks of this new woodland critter set Backyard Party from Ellen Hutson?! Oh my cuteness! These little guys are just adorable, and are sure to bring a smile to anyone you send cards to.

That owl ... slays me! He's got such a funny deadpan expression, that outfitting him with a party hat and having him be the one to hold the balloon just made me giggle. Notice how all the other critters have their hands up. Perfect for making them interact with each other. Like the bunny offering up his ice cream, or the squirrel presenting his cake.

As cute as the critters are, let's not forget the accessories. This set has so many useful little additions to make your cards really come to life. Cake, party hats, balloons, presents, everything you need for a party. Also, I'd like to point out my "grass" ... the versatile stripe from Winterscapes.

How about one more card with this cast of characters? This time they've all been gathered (loosely) for a portrait.

Again, their raised arms lets us make them interact with each other easier. Here the racoon is giving the bunny a lift, and the bunny is high-fiving the squirrel. And the owl, well, he's just embarrassed to be seen with this crew.

The photo frame is from the Instant Photo Frames die. Love that sentiment from Handful, and how it fits so nicely on the photo frame.

I was so darn excited to get this set in the mail and start playing with it! Actually, I ended up die cutting 5-6 sets of the critters for future use, because I know I'll be using them. My 5th grade son was bored this week so I invited him in my craft room and suggested he make a card. He picked this set to work with. And there you have it. 5th grade boy approved set!

This entire release is available now, yay! Stay tuned for another post tomorrow with the beautiful floral set in this release!

Heffy Doodle and Chibitronics Blog Hop

Hi Folks! Welcome to the Chibitronics and Heffy Doodle Blog Hop! You may have come from Koren Wiskman but if not feel free to start at the beginning with our wonderful host Heffy Doodle.

The stamp illustrations at Heffy Doodle are just as sweet as the owner, and fellow Chibitronics team member, Lesley Oman. Today I'm using the Hootiful Stamp Set to create a little night scene of owls flying around under a crescent moon.

Let's take a look inside the light-up card:

On the inside of the card I've run the copper tape to three different LEDs. Because the moon is backed in vellum, and I didn't want a bright spot of light showing through the vellum, I offset the LEDs slightly to the right side of the crescent moon opening. This will generate enough ambient light to make the vellum moon as bright as it can be.

Note that the owl is on a sliding pull tab. Once it's pulled out all the way to the left the owl will land on the tree branch, and the copper tape on the bottom of the pull tab will connect the broken copper tape in the circuit, turning on the LEDs.

Here's the other side of the top panel where you can see the square piece of vellum I adhered behind the crescent moon opening, as well as the pull tab with the copper tape wrapped around it. Since it's a very long pull tab I created a "tunnel" for it to go through and stabilize the back and forth motion.

Here's a peek between the pull tab and the card panel. I added a folded up piece of cardstock to make sure there's enough pressure pushing down on the tab's copper tape to complete the broken circuit on the card base.

Now when you pull the tab, the owl flies to the branch, and the crescent moon lights up!

Here's the progression of the owl across the card : )

The owls, tree stump and tree branch were all fussy cut so they could be positioned just right on the card. I made the nighttime background with Catherine Pooler ink blended through the awesome Circles of Life stencil which I can see using on so many different cards.

Here's a nighttime view of our adorable owl family under the moon! Whoooo knew?!

Prizes
Heffy Doodle will be giving away a £50 gift voucher to one commenter and Chibitronics will be giving away a starter kit to one commenter! Have fun visiting our blogs, and best of luck!

Please continue along the hop at Jessica McAfee where she has another fun light-up card to share with you.

Trinity Stamps - Build-a-Succulent Cards

Hello folks! I'm back with another set of succulents from Trinity Stamps! This time it's the Let Love Grow Stamp Set and Let Love Grow Coordinating Die Set, and instead of taking things away from the image to modify it, this time I'm adding things to the image to modify it. Stop by and see how I've adapted this image to fit both a landscape and a portrait card.

Trinity Stamps Guest Designer

Hi Folks! My favorite part of the Creativation trade show in January is always meeting people in our community. This year at the Ellen Hutson dinner I was thrilled to see for the first time my long-time blogging friend Katie Brooks and give her a huge hug. I also had the good pleasure of meeting Taniesa, the owner of Trinity Stamps. Her story of starting a new company with the same work ethics as her grandparents, who were also very successful business owners, is very touching and inspiring.

While we were chatting, Taniesa asked if I would like to be a guest designer for Trinity Stamps, and I totally jumped at the chance. I'll be appearing on their blog twice this month ... the first post being today!

I'm sharing two different cards with the same gorgeous succulent image, and showing how I modified it for the second card. I'd love it if you'd come by and visit!

As always, thanks for stopping by : )
