CFC #97: Chevrons and Flowers

Hi everyone! Totally no excuse for you not to join the CAS-ual Fridays
Challenge this week ... with a trendy theme like "chevrons & flowers," a rockin' round of design team inspiration, and a $25 gift certificate for Ellen Hudson for the winner, it would be hard to sit this one out!

Do I go chevrons full of flowers, or flowers full of chevrons? I tried masking chevrons with lots of flowers inside, but lemme just say it wasn't pretty.`So flowers with chevrons it is.

The Lawn Fawn Interlocking Backdrops chevron is embossed in white over a subtle stripe pattern. I cut some petals out randomly, pinched them at the base, and arranged them so that one side was flat on the base and the other raised. The center is made of copper seed beads strung on 28 gauge wire wound in a circle.

I know, I got a little carried away with the sentiment. But I have a tendency to repeat my typed "yay's" so I made my card that way as well, changing the exclamations on the first two to commas. My husband thinks it is silly, but anyone who knows me can probably picture me saying this. One of the benefits of making your own cards is you can put three "yay's" on the front if you darn well feel like it, right?! The normal, singular "yay!" is from CAS-ual Fridays Exclamations set. The stem is one of my favorite dies, Memory Box delicate chain border, with AC foil paper.

Thanks so much for looking, and hope to see you in the gallery!

PS. watch for another post this afternoon for the debut of the Brand Spankin' New FUSION Challenge. You're gonna want to play in this one too!!

  12. This is so flippin cool - it's pretty with a funky edge. Love all the detail on it, yet it still manages to have a CAS feel. The dimension of the flower, the texture of the beads and the chain and I think your sentiment is perfect for a person who has just had something wonderful happen!
