Fusion: 5th Birthday Shaker Card

I'm usually not one to pick the sketch over the photo in the Fusion Challenge, but after I make a few heart cards, the desire to make more of them starts to die. So I picked the sketch this time!

Here's my plan: use the large circle as the home for my shaker, the horizontal line for my sentiment, and then put a bunch of vertical things on the bottom.

And that's pretty much exactly how it turned out! I like putting names on cards for kids because it's more personal, and I think they always like seeing their own name. When you're under 10 years old, it's definitely all about YOU!

I also always put names on new baby cards ... more than a few times the mom will get emotional and say that's the first time she's seen her baby's name on anything. It tends to make a bigger impact.

No foam tape here, I just used the same dies that I did for the paper and cut the circle and "5" out of chipboard. Everything is even that way. No lumps over time when it gets squished in a pile. Although I've made a few shaker cards, this will be the first one I send to a child. I can't wait to see how she likes it!

Thanks so much for looking!

  5. Gorgeous card, Kelly! Good points about putting the child's name on the cards. I was doing that and I have fallen out of the practice. Time to go back to doing it. :-) I've never made a shaker card, but this is so sweet for a five-year-old that I am thinking that the little 4 and 5 year olds in my life might just get shaker cards this year, with their names.
