Essentials By Ellen - Big City & Landscape Dies and Good Times

It's release day for Ellen Hutson, and to be honest, this is one of my favorite releases so far! Lots of great stamp sets AND stand-alone dies, including this Big City die, perfect for building your very own rainbow city. I love that the city die is very long. This gives you a lot of room to vary up the skyline so that it doesn't look repeated.

The Dr. Seuss sentiment is one I made on the computer by downloading the font, curving the text path, and printing it on cardstock. I used another die being released from the Landscape Die set that is meant for hills, but works just as well for a cloudy sky (and place to add your sentiment!)

I ended up switching the card base to be a taller-than-normal base, so I could spread the buildings out a little more, and have more sky available for the single balloon to float up. Finally, the purple grass also comes from a new die in the Landscape set. Love this card for a graduation!

The Good Times stamp and coordinating die set is really well drawn and accessorized, with two awesome sentiments. I love the variety of hand-drawn fonts, the large size of the sentiment to carry the card, and how the letters in the last word are open so you can color them to coordinate with the rest of your card.

The scooter is cute and easy to color. There are several accessories that come with the scooter, including this doggie (with optional shades) and the presents that are almost falling off the scooter.

Everything about this set makes me smile, especially the tiny "beep, beep" sentiment which adds a little something to the scene.

I had to make another card with this set, I love it so much. This card uses the Big City die to make the background (there's no "bottom" to the die so you can make the buildings as tall or short as you want.) And why not have a Barbie pink city?

The sentiment again has the nice, open letters. This time the doggie traded his shades in for three balloons. It's hard to see, but I have a gray road in between the grass in the foreground and the skyline in back. The colors make me happy on this one, as well as the secondary sentiment I stamped on the grass.

Similar to the second version of the Dr. Seuss Places You'll Go card, this is a larger format card, which I'm really liking these days.

All in all, a very modern and graphic set, just perfect to send to those hard-to-impress teens.

Stay tuned for tomorrow when I'm sharing cards from two additional sets from this release (link to the whole release, including the story behind the stamps from Julie herself, here).

Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I love the dr seuss card and matching sentiment. So perfect! My 7 yo son and I were just reading the pregnancy version two nights ago. The last page makes me tear up remembering what it was like when I was pregnant. This card is awesome. I wish the sentiment was a stamp. Well I actually have that sentiment but not in that font. Thank you for the smile.
