Hi Folks! My friend Lesley designs the cutest stamp sets for her company Heffy Doodle, including this adorable Pasta La Vista set full of punny pasta. These are great candidates for teens, boys, and the most difficult of all categories ... teen boy cards!
This card isn't really a teen boy card, but I REALLY wanted to turn one of the macaroni noodles into a rainbow. It's just too darn perfect!! The shape and the stripes are just begging to be rainbowed. And the sentiment is perfect as well ... "anything is pastable" ... including a rainbow noodle!
Kindergarten, grade school, or middle school graduates would love a card like this featuring one of their favorite foods.

If you do need a teen boy card, you could totally do a noodle in camo colors, school colors, or even just "boy" colors. Anything other than yellow would support the sentiment. In between the noodle pattern I stamped portions of the star cluster from the Wonky Backdrops Essentials by Ellen set.
In addition to filling the "teen boy" category, the Pasta La Vista set is also great for another challenging category ... masculine valentines! So many of us can relate to macaroni and cheese. This set also comes with anthropomorphic details like arms, legs and faces so you can animate your pasta. I don't know about you, but this just makes me giggle!
Mr. Mac and Ms. Cheese are featured in the Essentials by Ellen Instant Photo Frame Dies (the arrow strip of paper is from this die set too). The backgrounds are from the EBE Winterscapes Set and the EBE Wonky Backdrops. Did you notice the pattern on the charcoal heart?! It's the cavatappi noodle!!
I was only planning to make two cards, but as I was cleaning my desk I didn't feel right throwing the other pair of Mr. Mac and Ms. Cheese away, so I took an extra 10 minutes and turned it into another card. Why not? It's not the greatest card, but I'm sure someone will get a kick out of it. I also had a spare "you are the" on the black arrow so I saved that from the garbage as well. Instead of a white card base, the yellow cavatappi noodle fills the space without being distracting.
Honestly, is this not the cutest set? I also like the "holy macaroni, you're how old?" sentiment, and have thoughts of adding angel wings to one of the pastas ...
I also have THE BEST macaroni and cheese 🧀 recipe to share with you!!
It's an instapot recipe. Do you have an instapot? Has it been sitting in the box because you’re afraid of it (that's me ... I made everyone get out of the kitchen the first time because I was sure it was going to explode!!)? Do you use yours all the time? Have you tried it with potatoes (game-changer)?
We make this at least once a week, usually for lunch on Saturday or Sunday when all four of us are here.
My friend who gave me the recipe said the leftovers heat up really well. I can’t speak to that ... with two teenage boys we’ve NEVER EVER had leftovers. Here it is!
Best Ever Mac N Cheese:
16 oz macaroni (uncooked)
4 cups chicken broth (if I’m out I’ll just do 4 cups of water with a chicken bullion cube)
1t Red hot sauce (it won’t be spicy)
1t garlic powder
1/2t fresh ground pepper
1/2t salt
Add these to the Instapot, seal, set to 5 minutes with high pressure. Quick release when done.
2T butter
2C shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1C shredded mozzarella cheese
Mix these into the instapot. You can add some milk (1/2 cup) if you want thinner sauce. Enjoy!!
Let me know if you end up making it. But just know that once you do, it will be hard to go back!!
I even made this for my family Christmas party this year!
Thanks so much for noodling by!
