Hi Folks! Can you believe all the wonderful details in this latest Altenew Lavender Build-a-Flower stamp and die set?! I'm pleased to welcome you to the Altenew BAF blog hop, where you may have come from Svitlana Shayevich. If not, feel free to start at the beginning with the Altenew Card Blog.
This set only has one flower head, as opposed to multiple flower heads in previous sets, but this flower is wonderfully detailed. And huge!
Here it is in action ... this bloom is definitely large enough to cover a large-format 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 card.
The bottom of the card is covered with the striking new Golden Dots washi. That bold gold is such a nice compliment to the delicate gold script sentiment.
I really liked using the larger format card with this set, so I tried my hand at a similar card. This one is filled with additional foliage from the new Dot Botanicals set. The mix of thin and thick foliage really helps to cover the bottom of the card and ground it.
I ran out of room to have the sentiment going across the card, so on this one I stamped the sentiment vertically.
So much flower you get with just one set of stamps!
These were all stamped directly to the card, so next I wanted to see what the die cut version looks like. Let me tell you, GORgeous!
It was so pretty, I thought, why not "plant" it? Doesn't this almost look like the real thing?! These would make such a statement at a luncheon to have at every place setting. I would totally plan an event just to have an excuse to make a bunch of these : )
What I appreciate about this die cut is that it cuts the leaves as well as the flower. Very detailed! And so quick! You are literally stamping one flower, one leaf structure, die cutting it all out, and then sticking it in some floral foam stuck in a pot. I didn't have to secure the flower at all; the tip of the stem anchors nicely in the floral foam.
Finally, here are three of the same die cuts arranged in an antique medicine bottle I found at a flea market. I added some green wire to the ends of these so they would stand in place.
Don't they look real?! I called my son in to look and see if he was fooled. He told me he knew they were fake because "well, they have a white outline, Mom!" Ha, that is true.
So many different projects with this one flower. Again, I really appreciate the large scale of it.
Even though they are all stamped purple (I searched online and didn't really find any non-purple lavender blooms) there are still a variety of projects.
