Hi Folks! I sure had fun Copic coloring the new Little Gentleman from Ellen Hutson! Perhaps one of the reasons is because he's a boy, and doesn't require fancy patterned clothes. Or maybe because he's smaller than the adult Leading Ladies. Or maybe just because I'm a boy-mom and am more comfortable thinking about boys and what they look like. Regardless, I'm really quite fond of this new installment in the Leading Ladies series at Ellen Hutson!
First off, those bright yellow puddle jumpers!! : ) Wasn't exactly sure how to color them so I just used two different shades of yellow and then added lots of shiny highlights with a white get pen. His puddle is embossed in silver and is splashing on the sentiment. His toy Dinosaur is tucked in his arms, which is totally something both of my boys did when they'd go outside to play. I love that there are several sentiments in this set that fit perfectly on the flag that he can hold, like this Play All Day declaration. Finally, my boys always have something written across the front of one of their T-shirts, so I masked off the sides of the sweatshirt and stamped a random sentiment across the front. Totally looks like them now!
The background of the card is also the sentiment. I stamped "HAPPY" on the bottom of the card, and simply kept stamping up the card without reinking until the ink ran out! The remainder of the sentiment, "birthday wishes," goes across the bottom. Finally, I popped up a tiny die-cut paper airplane (ACK!!) to fly across all the happy's. I was flipping through my other sets to see what else this gentleman could hold, and I came across the recent Hang On set. It dawned on me that I didn't necessarily need to find an item for him to hold, but I could find a sentiment that talked about holding something!
The end of his rope! After adhering the rope on top of his hand, I stamped and cut a second hand to put on top. Totally worked like I planned. Similar to the first gentleman, I also added a logo to his t-shirt. This one I curved a little as well.
One additional thing I thought I'd share is how I've started storing the additional extras that come with the main person in these Leading Ladies set. Once I have all the stamps lined up with the dies, I'll stamp them 4-5 times to have a nice selection of accessories. Initially I stored these in plastic pockets, but it was rather a pain to dig the ones out that you need. So I have them set up on a piece of chipboard and lightly adhered on top of each other. Now, when I need to create a card, it's so much easier to get started!
Here's a recap of all the projects I made for this release. As you can see, I really enjoyed creating with these sets in the March Release, and highly recommend them!
