With two challenges this week on banners, I was motivated to make a card. And have it be a summer one while I still can.
Make It Monday's challenge is to make a garland.
For this card I just cut out the center, but left a flap which will be the top of the lemonade stand table when it's opened.
The banners are strung between the two posts. I found several great packages of 1970's beads from a recent flea market, and am happy to use the lemon yellow ones right away in between the banners.
The lemons are from PTI Tiny Treats. I didn't have a lemonade pitcher stamp so I drew one and colored with my new alcohol markers.
There is a tab on the bottom of the lemons and lemonade. I cut slots in the table top for the lemons and adhered pennies to them underneath so gravity would make them stand up when the card is opened.
Then when it's time to slip the card into an envelope, lift the table top flap, and everything folds flat.
The table cloth is made from a Martha Stewart punch. I'll put a tiny note on the front with the sentiment and attach it with a brad once I decide what I am using this for.
Thanks for looking!
[ETA: This also fits with the CASology theme of "Relax" this week, just what I want to be doing!]

ReplyDeleteok how do you put it in an envelope??? I love it and want to use something similar for my bday invite, thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi there - I just added another photo in the post above showing the card folded flat. Since the Lemonade and Lemons just sit on the table, weighted down by the pennies, they go flat too when the card is folded. Since I started with a standard A2 size card, it fits in a standard envelope. Just let me know if you have any questions!
Deletefor reals? this is so cool I can't even tell you how cool this is, but you probably already know cuz you made it! ;)

ReplyDeleteThis card is amazing. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI adore this card!
ReplyDeleteIs there anyway you can give measurements for cutout in middle and square that you punched edges of?
Sure thing!
Delete- cut 3" into the card on each side
- space those cuts 3 1/2" apart (so on a 4 1/4" base, you'd have 3/8" margins on each side for the posts)
- leave 1 1/2" of the flap to fold down making your table. Score and fold 1/4" at the end so you can anchor it over the other side.
For the tablecloth, it's a 3 1/4" square from tip to tip of the decorative edge.
Hope this helps!
This is incredible! Adhering pennies to make the elements stand up? One of the cleverest things I've seen in cardmaking. Simply adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love this card so much. I have made it a hot cocoa stand for s Christmas card & plan on making it a kissing booth for a valentine card for a class I am teaching. Thanks for sharing!
