Who's up for a fun challenge at FUSION this week? I see Father's Day written all over the inspiration photo : ) But since I'm on Jackie's challenge team using the sketch only, I'm foregoing the Father's Day theme ...
and going with the fun Mixy and Matchy theme at Moxie Fab World. A very liberal interpretation of the sketch for me, but I'm fine with that. I'm always of the opinion that a sketch should inspire you, not necessarily constrain you. So I stamped four different patterns with colors I would never pick together. In hindsight, I think this would have been more dramatic with different patterned papers so everything wouldn't be so white-based like it is with stamping. But it was a fun experiment! There's one spot where the houndstooth overlapped a little, and one spot where the zig zags didn't line up, but I decided to leave that and go with the fun, loose theme (branching out for me here!)
While I was mixing and matching, I saw a bunch of Halloween ribbon that would be fun to mix. And then I threw in two that definitely weren't Halloween. Mr. Bones' candy bag worked out as a good place for the sentiment.
ETA: I'd like to say that this card is based on the photo inspiration, as Ardyth kindly pointed out, but I wasn't that thoughtful. Maybe subconsciously?!?

Thanks so much for looking, and hope to see you in the gallery!

These are surprising and interesting (in a good way!). I'm still thinking about the first one - it has an eclectic edgy feel to it and I think it's perfect for the sentiment. The second one, I thought was based on the inspiration photo of all the ties - all those ribbons together add lots of delicious colour and texture.
ReplyDeleteFun way to play with the sketch. I think your stamping was excellent! If you hadn't pointed out the stamping glitches, my eye wouldn't go to them.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the Halloween card! I'm slightly biased as it is one of my favorite holidays. Love your mixy matchy card as well. The sentiment goes so well!
ReplyDeleteA great interpretation of the sketch, Kelly ... you were definitely inspired and not constrained by it ... love the sentiment and how you placed it! The Halloween card is so fun ... bright and vibrant and textured ... and the bag's a perfect place to pop the sentiment! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteBoth of these cards are really wonderful. I do like that sentiment on the bag. Super clever, as always.
ReplyDeleteCute, cute cards, Kelly. ;-) You've got the best of both worlds here! I love the patterns you created on the first card, with the perfect unique sentiment. And your Halloween card is great. Good work! ;-)
ReplyDeleteokay, now how fun and sassy are your cards?! Love all the stamping on the different panels for your first card. Super fun halloween card too!
ReplyDeleteVery fun cards Kelly! Love how you placed the sentiment on the first card and the different patterns mixed together. The second card, also great placement on the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteFun cards Kelly! Love the mix match of patterns and colours!
