Altenew Glint & Glimmer Hot Foil Plates, Embossing Folders and Stencils Collection Release Blog Ho+ Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Hello Friends! How exciting that Altenew is now offering Hot Foil?! And talk about starting with a bang, the Sentiment Banners Hot Foil could potentially be used on every card you make, and the Gilded Rose Hot Foil is giant at almost 5"x5"!

You may have come from the blog of Joy Baldwin, but if not feel free to start this new release hop at the beginning with the Altenew Blog.

Glint and Glimmer Release

Here's a look (or a recap if you're hopping along) of all the new items that have just been released. Let's take a look at some projects!

The Sparkle Bright Stamp Set has a great sized floral bunch that covers the front of a card nicely. For this card I used a holiday color scheme with deep reds, gray greens, and blush. Really loving this color combo right now!

I pulled out the Hello Winter stamp and die set from 2019 for the sentiment, and put the secondary sentiment on a red strip of cardstock to carry the bold color thru the card.

The flowers and leaves all come together so quickly since there are stamps that fill in the colors. Especially with the leaves, there are so many of them and it's a joy to see them all colored in seconds.

Here's another look with that same
Sparkle Bright Stamp Set, this time using the coordinating die as well.

The look changes so much just with the different color choices. The background is the new Tree Bark Embossing Folder OMG, all that divine texture!!

It's so hard to keep your fingers off these hills and valleys! A good wood grain is such a useful thing to have in your stash. I inked up the folder (direct pad to folder) before embossing it to get the impressed color.

Finally, here's a third card with the Sparkle Bright Stamp Set. This time I've just stamped the floral bunch around the edges, and have only colored in one layer of the flower to keep it light and airy.

Let's have a moment for these new Hot Foil Sentiment Banners! Eeep! Love, love, love! Now we can have any secondary sentiment outlined in foil?! Yes!

I'd like to share a tip for stretching your supplies with these Sentiment Banners:

This is what you will get when you make the first impression, the banners on the left and the leftover piece of foil on the right. DO NOT THROW AWAY THE LEFTOVER FOIL! Turn your hot foil plate upside down, like I have on the bottom here, and use that to foil the leftover foil onto another piece of paper. Now you have TWO sets of sentiment banners!

The "regular" banners are on the left, and the banners made with the left over foil are on the right. Do you see a THIRD pile of banners on the bottom?! Those are made from cutting the edges left on the leftover die cut paper! I just sliced them off with my paper trimmer.

So there you have it ... THREE sets of foiled Sentiment Banners from one hot foil and die set!

Here's one of the sentiment banners in action. I was able to heat emboss right over it! The gorgeous flower is the Gilded Rose Layering Stencil Set.

The nice thing about these stencils is that you don't need a stamp to go with them, just get the stencils! Th e other great thing is the size ... these are almost 5"x5"!

I cut the flower down for this card, but it's great to have options. Cut it down, fill a portrait card, or even fill most of a landscape card! Here's a great look at the hot foil Sentiment Banners.

The Gilded Rose Hot Foil is a coordinating product to the layering stencils. If you want, you can actually hot foil the gilded rose! Love!

Check out the debossed hot foil! So much dimension! For even MORE dimension, I made two
Gilded Roses and cut the middle out of the second rose to layer on top of the first rose. With layering stencils, the coloring goes so quickly, you can afford to spend a few minutes making another layer.

This rose was so pretty, and large, that I wanted to just have it be the card. So I cut around the edges and put an easel on the back so it can stand.

Really loving that second layer. And best of all, you don't need any additional supplies to make it!

Altenew November 2021 Sparkle and Shine Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Hello Friends! The November Altenew release is here and there's a little bit of everything to get excited about ... backgrounds, florals, sentiments, die cut sentiments, stencils, it's all stocked and ready to go!

You may have come here from the blog of Jenny Colacicco, but if not feel free to start at the beginning with the Altenew Card Blog.

NEW Sparkle and Shine Collection!

I find it's always helpful to see a new release at a glance, in case you need to make tough decisions ; )

Let's start with the Note For You Stamps ...

There are ten different primary sentiments, eight secondary sentiments, and six different patterns for you to craft the perfect sentiment.

And that's pretty much what I did here ... used as many sentiments as I could to make one heck of a custom sentiment. The little pattern stamps that are included are great if you end up with spaces that need to be filled, like right below the "awesome".

Did you notice that beautiful background?! It's from the
Illusion Diamonds background set which is a wonderfully solid yet interesting geometric pattern. The colors (Lemon Whip and Pistachio) are also from one of the new lines of ink, the Frozen Delights Mini Ink Set.

The Note For You Stamps has a coordinating die that can be used for making your own coordinating envelope, as well as a few of the sentiments like the "hello" I added to the envelope.

In addition to the word dies, there are a few trim dies for adding details, like the lacy die under "hello" and the scallop die I used on the edge of the flap.

This is a good chance to use any double sided patterned papers you have. After you make the envelope, cut a square from the same paper and you're automatically coordinated.

Here's another card that uses a primary sentiment from
Note For You Stamps, and then I layered a secondary sentiment embossed in white on top. I inked up the bottom word "heart" in a complementary color to tie in with the centers of the flowers.

The florals are from
In the Woodland Stamp. The nice thing about this set is you get two different large floral cluster images. So it's like a 2-for-1!

There is a coordinating layering stencil set available, which is how I got the alternating petal effect. I like this look as a change from having a layer of shadows. The beautiful colors are all from the new
Frozen Delights Mini Ink Set.

My final card features the Tree Mix Dies. There are 12 different trees to pick from, so definitely something for everyone. I like being able to layer the trees on top of each other, which makes the possibilities even more limitless!

The word die sentiment is one of the six new words in the All About Wishes Dies. Love that all the words come with outline dies so you can outline them. That really helps out on a busy card like this where you need to be able to see the word a little clearer.

I do like the pinks and whites for a glam holiday card, with a splash of gold glitter.

Pinkfresh Studio November Stamp, Die, Stencil, and Hot Foil Release

Hello Friends! A big welcome to the November Pinkfresh Blog Hop, with a brand new set of stamp/die/stencil/hot foil plates!

One of my favorite bundles is anchored by the Charming Floral Border Stamp Set, designed by my friend Alex Syberia. This set has it all, florals, main sentiment words, and secondary sentiments. The florals are small enough to be used underneath your sentiment, or doubled up to fill the entire card.

Let's take a closer look!

This card is made entirely from the
Charming Floral Border Stamp Set and the Charming Floral Border Layering Stencils.

I love that in addition to using the stencils to color in the floral strip, the other side of the stencil has several large words, like this Miss You, so you really feel like you're getting a lot from this set. I first stenciled some of the orange that I used for the leaves inside the "Miss You" stencil, and then to give it some punch I stenciled a vibrant red on the bottom of the letters. Also went back to the leaves and stenciled some red highlights to the center floral image. This helps tie the red in the sentiment to the red in the florals.

This
Charming Floral Border Stamp Set also has a ton of secondary sentiments! Score! In every card I make featuring a large word sentiment, I love to have a smaller phrase before or after it for balance. This set is a gold mine of secondary sentiments, so it will be on my desk for quite some time : )

This card also features the Charming Floral Border Stamp Set, but this time I've die cut two of the floral strips and put them back-to-back to fill up the card base. Very versatile!

The large "Congrats" is from a really fun set
Brushed Sentiment Layering Stencils that I couldn't wait to play with as soon as I saw it! There are 12 words you can mix and match, and layering stencils to form shadows and highlights on the script letters!

Another nice feature is that six of the words are connected together so if you want to make one of the words, the other five are made as well. Always good to have extras ready to go for other projects!

Here's another secondary sentiment from the
Charming Floral Border Stamp Set. I'll get so much use out of this set!

Let's take a quick look at the card jewelry! One card features the gold dots, and the other card has the green crystals. Both beautiful accents to the floral design/pattern.

This card features the Sweet Leaves Frame Layering Stencils and Sweet Leaves Frame Die. It does not have a coordinating stamp set, it's just two layers of stencils, but you can still create quite a dramatic frame just by adding your own colors to different parts of the stencil. For example, I colored the middle bunch of leaves on the top and bottom yellow, and the rest green.

The "Celebrate" word die from the Scripted Greetings Dies is extended across the floral frame three times for impact. You can see two more of the secondary sentiments that I embossed in gold on vellum from the Charming Floral Border Stamp Set. Love a card with a lot to say.

I experimented with a gray swiss dot and a charcoal background for inside the card. Both slightly different looks.
