Hi Friends! Time to channel your inner 80's self with the big hair, shoulder pads, gloria vanderbilt jeans, leg warmers, rainbow doodles and roller skates! You may have come from my friend
Michele Ferguson's blog, but if not feel free to start at the beginning with another really fun blogger
Ashlea Cornell!
Catherine Pooler's new
Let the Good Times Roll stamp set is perfect for all your 80's loving friends and family. The main feature of this set is the two different roller skate stamps. I remember my parents dropping me off at the roller rink for girl scout parties, school activities, and even for open skating. I never had my own skates, but I sure would have been proud to own these gems, with a rainbow and cloud design no less!
I filled the background with stars to give these skates a magical look, like they may be enchanted with some sort of time machine if they fit your feet : ) The bottom of the card is masked and color blended, and then I stamped the retro "happy birthday" in navy. Doesn't this font scream "Welcome to the 80's"?
This card totally reminds me of something that would be on my Trapper Keeper! I was in school all during the 80's and I think everyone in our middle school had a fancy Trapper Keeper to organize their school papers. Does anyone else remember these?
I made the patterned background by clustering the smaller stamps from the set on an acrylic block, and then stamping them randomly across the panel. Then I did some ink blending. Here's that 80's sentiment again, this time embossed in gold.
Finally, this card is my favorite, I think. I tried to use a happy color palette with a lot of brights. The pom poms on the skates are definitely something the 80's me would have longed for.
Love that the sentiment has open letters so you can tie it in with the colors in your skates. The skates are watercolored, except for the mint.
I think this card background is something you would have seen in the 80s too. Paint spatters were really big then. I remember the apron I made for 7th grade Home Economics was white with rainbow paint spatters. I believe it's actually still in a tub in my basement! To get even more bright colors in this card, I layered the panel with the fuchsia and purple leopard print from the
Totally Rad paper pack that also was just released.
All right, sure hope you enjoyed this little trip down memory lane (or perhaps I'm just ancient and this was all new information to you, ha!!)
