So far, we've got a wreath and a tree, now it's time for a pine cone ... all made with the CAS-ual Fridays 4 petal die.
I found that angling the petals inward by the tip of the pine cone, and outward by the base of the pine cone gave the most realistic appearance.
The "petals" all are bent and brushed with gold metallic ink, which makes them look even more dimensional since the light hits them at all different angles.
I know I've said this a lot, but since it's an open die, there's an extra ridge that is created. With the gold ink brushed on top, it really highlights that feature, just like a real pine cone.
I hand-drew the sentiment and colored the letters in with alcohol markers.
Double sided paper is from The Paper Company; printed ribbon from American Crafts.
I think this is my favorite 4 petal creation yet (out of 3 that's not really saying much, but I do really like how it turned out!) This card is also over at the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog today.
Thanks for looking!
She's on a roll again. Rockin that die. Goodness. This is one spectacular pine cone. And kudos on a fantastic hand-drawn sentiment in an oh-so-trendy style.ReplyDelete
Well you've blown me away again Kelly!! Not only is your pinecone amazing, but your hand drawn sentiment is out of this world!!!ReplyDelete
That pine cone is fantastic! Love the finish on each of the little pieces, and that sentiment is FANTASTIC!!!! That would have taken me about 15 tries and it still wouldn't look as good!ReplyDelete
You never cease to amaze me with your clever ideas!! I love that beautiful pine cone.ReplyDelete
How COOL is this!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it, Kelly!ReplyDelete

Holy pine cone, Batman...this is simply gorgeous. WOW!ReplyDelete
Absolutely gorgeous - only you, my friend, only you! This is stunning - the dimension and the glimpses of the gold just make this amazing! As usual!ReplyDelete
Just about managed to winch my chin up off the floor, Kelly ... this is beyond clever! Not only the most amazing pine cone with gorgeous gold highlights ... but a wonderful hand sketch sentiment ... and a delicious ribbon that mimics the scales of the cone! Awesome, simply awesome! Anita :)ReplyDelete
Oh, wow, this is fabulous, Kelly!ReplyDelete
There is a an impeccable designer in you, Kelly. I know I say this all the time, but I have to say it again: you are really a genius at creativity and design. This is ridiculous. It is truly more of a home décor item than a card. It belongs on the shelves of The Pottery Barn or Macy's Select! And your hand-drawn stamp, hello, Michele?! You should be paying Kelly to design stamps for you! Just sayin. Hugs, DarnellReplyDelete
Kelly, this is so very cool. I am in love with what you did here! Wow! Wow! Wow!ReplyDelete
The sound you heard this morning from north of you, was my jaw hitting the hardwood when I saw your pinecone. Absolutely stunning! Adding gold...your own writing...and a pop of green...!!! This needs to be published! Love, love, love this. BevReplyDelete
