I can't even begin to express how much fun I had with Altenew's June release of stamps and dies, so perhaps it's just best if I jump right to showing you! I have a ton of goodies to share : ) This is your first stop on the hop after the Altenew Card Blog.
You are going to see some amazingly beautiful stamp sets from Altenew in this release, but before we get to those, I need to show you this MUST. HAVE. SET. It's called Sentiment Strips, and if you don't pick up anything else from this release (which is honestly saying a lot) you need to stop and add this to your cart now!
Once you get the set, DON'T TOUCH any of the stamps. Leave them as-is on the packaging. Tape the packaging to your MISTI. You now have one gigantic sentiment stamper! Take this opportunity to stamp many sheets of sentiments and then cut them out with your paper trimmer.
I remember the first time I saw Rubeena's pile of embossed sentiment strips, and how I wished for a pile of my own. Now I have one, and it was so quick and easy! About two dozen different sentiments, for all different occasions, just waiting to finish off your cards. Such a great set!
Now, on to the parade of cards (many of which use these sentiments) ...
First is the amazing Pan Sketch Mandala set ... it's an XL size, more than covering the width of your A2 card. This one is stamped and then selectively colored with watercolors.
There are so many different sections you can choose to color or leave empty, that you'll have dozens of different looks depending on your choices. Three of the sentiment strips finish off the card.
Same set, different look. Do you believe this is all from one mandala image? After blending ink in the different sections, I cut the mandala into four pieces and rearranged them onto a black card base.
This would be a great formula to make a set of cards with. And another three sentiment strips for the win!
Still wanting to try more ideas with the mandala, I stamped and cut out tone-on-tone sections of the mandala. Each section was blended with the same color ink it was stamped with. Any guesses what I used these for?
A rainbow! Layering each section on top of each other makes the prettiest rainbow, full of all sorts of details.
For the bottom of the card I cut out some cloud shapes and used another one of the sentiment strips. Not only do you get this cute rainbow, but since it's only half of a circle, the bonus is that you're left with a second rainbow for a second card!
For the second card I used the stunning Mid Century Frame die as a sun shining behind the rainbow.
I like how you can just barely see the sun's rays coming through the inside of the rainbow. The sentiment is from the mandala set and seems to fit very well with this card.
So many different looks from one very large stamp!
My Godson is such a talented jazz pianist AND gifted acedemic student that he was accepted into the first Computer Science and Music program at the University of Illinois (which is also the alma matter for me, my husband and my Godson's parents)! This is his graduation card, featuring the blue and orange colors of our school. I cut out an "I" for Illinois and stamped the "Yeah!!" sentiment from this set down the middle.
One of the fun things about a set like this is seeing what happens when you stamp the patterns. I was pretty surprised that the unassuming little stamp with the scallops would make such an interesting design!
I didn't want to cover up all the happiness so I simply finished it off with the "Wow!" sentiment from this set as well as some sentiment strips.
You made it! Didn't I tell you there are so many amazing new stamp and die sets being released? Like I said though, the must-have for me has got to be the Sentiment Strips. I love having them all sit in a little saucer on my crafting table, just waiting to be used!
We’ll also draw a winner to receive a $20 gift certificate from the comments left on each designer’s blog on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew blogs on 6/22/19.
I am very pleased to send you to the lovely and talented May Sukyong Park who is sharing a stunning watercolor card with lots of tips!

In case you get lost, here's the complete list of stops along this hop:
The Mid-Century Frame die makes a great sun, as you just saw, but look how amazing it is on its own here, cut from gold foil paper. I have such an affinity for finely detailed die cuts, and this definitely checks that box. Although the name of the die is Mid-Century, I was going for a Hollywood Regency / Art Deco look with the gold against the black, and the strong vertical stripes.
The gold embossed sentiment is partially from the Sunflower Daisy stamp set and the Pen Sketch Mandala stamp set. The vellum circle happened to be laying on my desk (left over from the inside of the sun's rays) and is just perfect to use here.
The Pattern Power stamp set comes with seven different main patterns you can make for the background of your card. So very useful for a variety of looks! This cards showcases the triangle stamp that you can stamp in up to three different colors as you rotate the stamp around.
This is one set that will take awhile to explore and see what it can do. I have a feeling I can make dozens of cards with it!
The last two cards are from the Sunflower Daisy stamp set and coordinating dies. Wow!! This layering set is so detailed and realistic looking I had to show my husband as soon as I made one of the flowers. Even he was impressed at how I "colored it" wink, wink!
It's always so fun to "arrange" the flowers on your card! I appreciate that this set includes more detailed, multi-step leaf clusters, as well as simple leaf clusters, both of which are used here. The sentiment is from this set and is perfect for a graduation!
I had more sunflowers left over so I made one more card. Thie one has the mandala stamped and embossed in gold on a background panel, the Frilly Frame die in white, and two sets of flowers and leaves layered on top.
It has a vintage look to it with all the fussy layers. But, I think it's not too busy because it's limited to mostly one color with the yellows and golds.
You made it! Didn't I tell you there are so many amazing new stamp and die sets being released? Like I said though, the must-have for me has got to be the Sentiment Strips. I love having them all sit in a little saucer on my crafting table, just waiting to be used!

ReplyDeleteWow, so many fabulous cards! I love all the different designs you used! The sentiment tip was awesome too. I don't usually do that and then always end up with basic sentiment use because I don't want to go through the trouble of cutting a strip or embossing just one sentiment.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! The suggestion you have us on the sentiments, spectacular! Gonna totally do that. ;) Your sunflower card is my favourite. It reminds me of my grandmother and she had some huge ones growing in her garden in the 70s/80s. Such fond memories! Great, great cards! I plan to follow you; you do great work!
